Michie, Marie

July 15, 1917 – December 13, 2010

 

Marie Michie passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Born in Pine Creek, Alberta, Marie lived on her farm in Rowley for many years, after which she moved to Drumheller. In recent years, she lived at Wheatland Lodge in Strathmore and spent her final days in Vulcan. Marie had a keen sense of humour and a kind heart. Among the things she loved were animals, square dancing, farming and potato chips. She also very much enjoyed the time spent managing her properties in Drumheller and all the relationships she had with her tenants, property managers and all of the tradespeople.  Marie is survived by her children Diane (Art) Weismiller, George (Linda) Michie, and Grace (Ken) Wong; her grandchildren Teresa Weismiller, David (Inness) Weismiller, Ian (Glenda) Michie, Bill (Roiseen) Michie, Julie Wong, Lana (Corey) Fehr, and Josie (Souheil) Saab; and her great-grandchildren Serena Michie, Gabriel Fehr and Emilyn Fehr. Marie is predeceased by her parents Johannes and Jacoba Hegi, her husband Duncan, her son Harry, her sister Johanna Lyon, and her great-grandchildren Alanna Michie and Ehlio Saab.  Marie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Extendicare in Vulcan for their wonderful care and kindness.
