Skaters lace up in competition

Members of the Strathmore Skating Club took part in the Chinook Open last weekend in Lethbridge and brought home a couple of medals.
Brynn Shaw and Kaitlyn Struiksma won gold in the STAR 4 team event.
Meanwhile, Genevieve Hart, Trinity Haynes and Tamzyn Musselman captured silver in the STAR 4 competition.
In the STAR 2 team event, Ava Doyle, Paige Labossiere, Sophia Bischoff and Olivia Beardsell won silver, and Rylee Wilson won the bronze for her interpretive skate.
Previously, at the Alberta STARSkate championships March 26 in Airdrie, the skating club racked up some more hardware.
Jaicey Birch, in a field of 24 skaters, won silver for an interpretive routine. Wilson placed third in an interpretive of 69 skaters and Emma Bittorf snagged silver during a Special Olympics Level 2 skate.
Their next event is slated for April 21-23, when the United Cycle Sunsational Competition takes place in Edmonton. That will be their final competition of the season, followed by their awards banquet April 26.
