Violence on Siksika Nation

A man was found in his vehicle on Siksika First Nation around 3 a.m. on Feb. 9 with an apparent single gunshot wound in his neck.
A report about the incident was called in to 911 just before 3 a.m. by another resident of Siksika.
Gleichen RCMP and paramedics were called to the scene where they found the victim in a vehicle in non-life threatening condition suffering from a gunshot wound to his neck. Paramedics transferred the victim to a hospital in Calgary where he remained in serious but stable condition. According to a spokesperson for Alberta RCMP, it is unknown if the victim has been released from the hospital or not.
A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and faces 10 individual charges including: aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm while prohibited, assault causing bodily harm, using a firearm in the commission of an indictable offence, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing the possession is unauthorized, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm while prohibited.
The accused will appeared at Siksika Provincial Court on Feb. 16 in regards to the 10 charges laid.
The Gleichen RCMP believe they have the individual responsible for the crime and they are not looking for any other suspects at this time.
