New reporter at the Times

Adelle Ellis
Times Reporter

My name is Adelle Ellis, and I am the new friendly reporter at the Strathmore Times. I am very excited to start my work here and to join in at community events.
You may have seen me around before as I am practically a local – I was raised on a small cattle and grain farm just north of Standard where I currently reside. I am a country girl heart and soul, and truly at home on the Prairies
I first decided to study journalism while in high school. I started reading more novels and taking more photographs, and became interested in different forms of media.
Naturally, the next step for me was to attend post-secondary and study journalism. I continued into SAIT’s journalism program, which thankfully for me was close enough to my parent’s farm to be able to go home on weekends to get my animal fix and do my laundry for free.
At SAIT, I majored in photojournalism in my last year, choosing my love for photography over my love/hate relationship with writing.
Upon graduation, I gained a job with a steel construction company in Calgary where I rebuilt their website and their sister company’s website, and produced documentation photographs on various jobsites.
Since my passion is for taking photographs of people, not buildings, I also started taking family and individual portraits and booking photo sessions. Please feel free to give me a like and follow at facebook.com/adelleellisphotography.
And now here I am by chance of good timing mixed with a little luck – reporting for the Strathmore Times. I am once again pursuing my journalistic dreams and looking forward to documenting and reporting on all Strathmore and Wheatland County offers.
