Aspen Crossing hosts the fourth annual Southern Alberta Music Festival on Aug. 5-6 featuring a number of local musicians.
The festival was originally started to raise funds for High River after the 2013 floods, and has since become a benefit for STARS Air Ambulance. Last year they raised around $3,600 for the organization.
“We have the musicians who are sort of homegrown musicians in the southern Alberta area for the most part,” said Brenda Campbell, one of the organizers of the event. “It is usually around 25 different groups that are on with their bands. It is bluegrass and it is country flavours of music.”
In addition to country and bluegrass by award-winning musicians such as Domino and Drew Gregory, audience members will also be entertained with folk music and good old-fashioned rock and roll. There will also be a beer garden hosted by the local Lions Club, and food vendors.
“[Some of] the names may not be as familiar, but the talent is certainly as professional as you are ever going to have anywhere else, for a fraction of the cost,” said Campbell.
Tickets can be purchased from the Aspen Crossing website or for more information call 403-534-2129.
