The Strathmore detachment of the RCMP is currently investigating a break and enter that occurred at Rocky’s Bakery in the early hours of July 4.
The unknown suspects broke the glass of the bakery’s front door and managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash. However, the bakery has an alarm system that alerted the RCMP to the break-in.
Rocky and Ellie Blokland were called down to switch off the alarm at around 1:30 in the morning.
“I may have to stay open 24 hours if they wanted my donuts so badly,” joked Rocky Blokland. “I may just leave the door open as it would save me $1,300 [to replace the door].”
This is the fifth time in his 16 years of business they have had a break-in.
There was also an attempted break-in at M&M meats.
If anyone has information about the break-in, call the Strathmore detachment of the RCMP at 403-934-3968 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
