Venom strikes back

The Strathmore Venom lacrosse team was the only team to beat the Lethbridge Cudas this season and is continuing to beat the top teams. They also gave the Calgary Axemen their first loss of the season.
However, the team has had a bit of a roller-coaster of a season taking some big wins and losses.
“We have been extremely inconsistent this season,” said Mike Olver, Venom Junior B coach. “We have had great games and some that were not at all.”
The Calgary Axemen took their first loss of the season on May 25 at the Strathmore Family Centre losing 16-11 while the Cuda took their only loss at 8-7 on April 30.
While the Venom may be able to beat these top teams, it appears that they are having a tough time beating the weaker teams. Olver is unsure why, but believes it may be a result of too much confidence.
The Venom have two more games left in the regular season, one against the Lacoka Locos and the last against the Medicine Hat Sun Devils.
The team will need to win both to ensure a spot in the playoffs. Olver said the team is strong as a whole and the players are talented, but if they make it to the playoffs they will need to become more consistent.
“I really hope we make the playoffs,” Olver said. “I think if we can get in there we can go far.”
