The Strathmore Venom Junior B Tier II won 16-11, handing the division-leading Calgary Axemen their first loss of the season on May 25 at the Strathmore Family Centre.
“Getting a win on these guys was good,” said Venom player Keenan Brown. “It was their first loss of the year and it was a boost to our confidence.”
The first period featured a back-and-forth battle. However, the Venom took control of the second period and ended up with a win.
“You know what, we played a really good game tonight,” said head coach Mike Olver. “From beginning to end they played a great second and third. The first period wasn’t perfect, but it was good and then it was a really good game.”
After their last game questions arose about the Venom’s probability of qualifying for play-offs, but with the win Olver is confident that they have a good chance if they keep up the consistent game play and score a few more wins.
The next Venom’s next game at home will be on June 19 against the Medicine Hat Sun Devils at the Strathmore Family Centre.
