The Strathmore Spartan high school senior boys volleyball team won their second tournament of this early season at George McDougall in Airdrie last weekend, and coach Cole Hintz applauded his players for finding ways to dig their selves out of deficits to gain points on strong 3A schools.
“The guys are slowly learning the level of focus and resiliency that they will need to achieve the level of success we are looking for this year,” said Hintz.
“It gave us the opportunity to be tested a little bit more. We had to get a little better at responding when things didn’t go well so that we could move on and earn the next point and the guys did a good job this weekend of doing that.”
He added the communication got better as the weekend went on, looking ahead before each set and discussing how they were going to score points.
From the first victory a couple of weeks ago to the second one, Hintz has seen tremendous improvement in a lot of areas.
“Our setting and middle attack has become real effective for us,” said Hintz.
“And it’s made it a lot easier to score points and also made it easier on the outside hitters.”
