NICHOLSON, (nee Barr) Mary (Tink)

The family of Mary Nicholson would like to invite you to the celebration of her life. The thought of life without her is unbearable. Our only consolation is that she once again will be with the love of her life, Phillip, who pre-deceased her in 1994. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an inspiration to her children: Cheryl Mayo (Herb), Diane Kay (Jim) and Cathie Gordey (Terry). Mary was not only our mother but our best friend. It is with great sadness that we announce her passing, but it is with joy that the family cherishes the memories of this wonderful woman. The legacy she has left this family with is a powerful and loving one. She taught us that “Love, Faith and Compassion” are the greatest gifts. She was the devoted Grandma who adored her grandchildren Dean Mayo, Christine Mayo, Curtis Gordey (Lynda), Marcia Gordey-May (Chad), Kathy Kay (Jacob McDowell), Karyn Kay (Mike Purse); and Great Grandma of Chase, Randa, Sloane, Joshua, Jarrod, Mary and Jamie. Grandma Nic always nurtured others and was loved by many. She was the heartbeat of our family and will be profoundly missed. Mary was the loving sister of Larry Barr (Pat), Napanee, Ontario. She was pre-deceased by her siblings Julia (Tody) Frame, Archina Linhares, Chris Smith, Ken Smith, Donna Mills and baby Louise Barr. As fate would have it, two young boys Gordon Hutton and Ken Wai became part of the extended family as brothers. Ken Wai pre-deceased Mary, Gordon Hutton (Bev) resides in San Jose, California. She will also be remembered by her many nieces and close friends. She has gone to heaven on golden wings. She had a nature you could not help loving, a heart that was purer than gold, and to those who knew and loved her, her memory will never grow old. In lieu of flowers, donations are to be sent to the charity of choice. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Steve Lagore will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM, at Glenwood Memorial Gardens Chapel, 52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, Alberta T8B 1B8.
