A heist at a residence in Rockyview County went amiss on Aug. 14, when the owner of the home interrupted the culprit in the act in the late afternoon.
Strathmore RCMP responded to the complaint regarding the break and enter, however, the suspect had already fled the scene. After the homeowner confronted the culprit, a scuffle followed where the individual tried to intimidate the owner by yelling “Calgary City Police.” Shortly afterwards the man fled the residence in an older model vehicle with blue paint on the side, rusted wheels, and a spoiler on the back.
“There are break and enters that happen all over the detachment area every day … and our best advice to people is to ensure that you keep your vehicles locked and your house (locked) when you’re not home,” said Cpl. Jay Salmon, with the Strathmore RCMP detachment. “If you ever find somebody that shouldn’t be in your house, and they are there, immediately call 9-1-1, because you never know if the person is armed and has a weapon. Safety is the utmost concern, so call 9-1-1 right away. I don’t want to see anyone get hurt.”
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 5’1″ with stocky build with a darker complexion, and is estimated between 30 to 35 years old.
Various items of jewellery and keys are believed to have been stolen during the incident.
