Despite a tough 5-1 loss to the Calgary White Eagles, the Strathmore U12 Spurs battled hard on the pitch.
After starting the season with three straight losses, the boys reeled off consecutive wins and were really looking forward to facing the White Eagles, who provided them with some great competition.
Head coach Dan Wilchowy knew it wasn’t going to be an easy feat playing a high-flying Eagles squad with a short bench.
“Because we played the top team, we knew we were in for a bit of a battle,” said Wilchowy. “We have no spares, so they gave it their all.”
He felt that his team has found chemistry amongst each other as the season has worn on, believing that it led to their success.
“We found strength of the different players and capitalized on that,” said Wilchowy.
“I think we’re in a good division for us. It challenges us and we’re kind of holding our own.”
