WYNDHAM, Katharine
WYNDHAM, Katharine
Katharine Elizabeth Wyndham “Betty” was granted her angel wings on Sunday, February 8th, 2015, three weeks shy of her 88th birthday. Betty was born February 26, 1927, in Victoria, British Columbia, to George & Alice (Miller) Verdun & adopted by Henry & Enid (Allen) Moss. She married the love of her life, “Bill” William Dummer Powell Wyndham and lived in Carseland, Alberta in the Bow River Valley on the land settled by Bill’s Great Grandfather Colonel Alfred Wyndham. Simply put Mom loved life and made good on everything she experienced, she was always smiling. She loved to travel, including Egypt, Australia, Sri Lanka and Alaska. She enjoyed volunteering in PB Club, CFO (Camps Farthest Out), ACW, Choir, Alter Guild, palliative & pastoral care to name most of her activities. Mom loved animals, taking on sheep farming when Dad was working on the road as an ROP inspector. Lots of chickens and eggs, a handful of beef calves and milking goats and looking after horses she would never ride. Not bad at all for a city girl, I’m sure we had the healthiest flock of sheep in the country as her care was impeccable! She was passionate about family genealogy and liked gardening, collecting coins and stamps, and most of all, she cherished her children and grandchildren and her many friends.
She is lovingly remembered by daughter-in-law, Patricia Wyndham; son, Jack Wyndham of Strathmore, AB; daughter, Carolynn (Ronald) Marohn of Waldersee, MB; 6 grandchildren, Carson (Lindsay) of Spruce Grove, AB, Colin Wyndham, Lance (Kim) of Stonewall, MB, Tyler (Blu Peckford) of Ft. McMurray, AB, Erin (Pat) Rice of Ft McMurray, AB and Brianna Marohn of Neepawa, MB; and 10 great grandchildren, Paul, Lydia, Lucas, Brooklyn, Ireland, Brock William, Katherine Elizabeth, Chance Peckford, Lillie and Hunter.
Katharine was predeceased by her son, Paul in 2004 and her husband, Bill in 2007. Thank You to Dr. Piesas and staff of Strathmore, AB for your years of tender loving care. To Bayshore and Home Support, your care & hugs. Thank you Dr. Moolman and staff of Bassano for your compassion and efforts in Mom’s short battle. A message Mom wrote for her family & friends, “Thank you for loving me and supporting me in the good things we shared together.” Mom’s faith and trust in knowing her Lord was absolute, be joyous in the knowledge she is happy. We invite you to join us in a Celebration of Katharine’s Life at St. Michael’s and All Angels, 237 First Avenue, Strathmore, AB on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Betty had requested that memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 237 First Ave., Strathmore, AB, T1P1B3. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.myalternatives.ca.
