Koch, Joyce (nee Schmaltz)

June 19, 1935 – May 16, 2014

 

Joyce Koch passed away at the age of 78 years on May 16, 2014 at the Foothills Medical Centre surrounded by her immediate family.  She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Alvin, her children Wendy (Dean), Wanda (Rod), Debbie (Ken), Dianne (Peter), and Brent; grandchildren Shawn, Kayla, Megan, Karli, Amanda, Jason, Scott, Margo, Jami, and Jimmy.  Joyce is also survived by two sisters Lucy and Florence, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Annie Schmaltz, brothers Ned and Vic, and brothers in law Charlie and Kelly.  Joyce enjoyed afternoon drives with her husband and stopping to eat at the local greasy spoons.  She enjoyed doing word puzzles to keep her mind sharp.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made directly to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation (#200, 119 – 14 St. NW, Calgary T2N 1Z6) or Canadian Diabetes Association (#204, 2323 – 32 Ave. NE, Calgary T2E 6Z3).  A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Strathmore United Church (410 – 4 St.) at 1:00 p.m.  To send condolences, please visit Joyce’s obituary at www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca.
