Finding out you’re pregnant can bring a wide range of emotions, everything from excitement to fear and of course many, many questions. Getting the right information to make the best-informed decision you possibly can about your pregnancy can be stressful and somewhat intimidating. That’s why the Strathmore Pregnancy Care Centre is once again bringing back their baby bottle campaign, Formula for Hope.
“This is a fundraiser that we’ve done in Strathmore for years, it’s just that this is the first time that we’re going to have our own centre in Strathmore,” said Heather Dirks with the Strathmore Pregnancy Care Centre.
“Our plan is that in the fall of 2013, we’ll be opening a satellite clinic of the Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre here in Strathmore.”
The satellite centre will be a way to provide extra support to both men and women who have been impacted by a crisis pregnancy.
The Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre provides free pregnancy tests, peer counselling, and knowledgeable staff who will discuss different options in the case of an unexpected pregnancy. The Calgary Centre also provides support for those dealing with grief after an abortion.
“It’s just to support women who are feeling stressed and to offer them accurate information,” said Dirks.
The Formula For Hope campaign runs from Mother’s Day until Father’s Day, June 16, and donations are collected in baby bottles. The bottles are handed out and people can add their loose change or cheques into the bottle as their donation.
The bottles will be distributed at most of the churches in the community but anyone who wants one can e-mail the centre to receive one.
Anyone with questions, who may want to make a donation or volunteer, can contact the Strathmore Pregnancy Care Centre via e-mail at strathpcc@gmail.com. For anyone who is dealing with an unexpected pregnancy and would like advice, Dirks is recommending people to contact the Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre at (403) 269-3110.
