The Langdon Community Association (LCA) received $5,000 for a new tot lot, from Western Financial Group. The grant is one of 14 given out by the Group’s charitable foundation. The Western Community Foundation was set up to support community infrastructure, student bursaries, support public health, recreation and education.
“Children gain confidence, social skills and coordination when they have a safe and creative environment to play,” said Glen Reiter, Langdon Western Financial Group Branch manager. “Our grant will benefit children and families by helping develop an exciting space where kids can let their imagination be their guides.”
“The Langdon Community Association is extremely grateful for the recent grant from the Western Financial Group, this grant has given the project a huge boost,” said Wanda Tulp, President of the Langdon Community Association.
Tulp said the LCA has been diligently raising funds. Director, Chrissy Craig and others have been doing a wonderful job in the community. They have been fundraising, through grant efforts, Pennies for Playgrounds jars that can be found at the local Langdon supporting businesses, in addition to various local events such as Winterfest and the Stop and Crop. Businesses such as Jay Sandhu’s Accounting office have also offered to donate 50 per cent of tax services by local citizens to our tot lot project.
“Though we do have a ways to go, it is such a positive thing when the community pulls together in such a collaborative effort to support this LCA project, to give the children of Langdon a great place to play. The efforts of the community have really been outstanding and we are so very grateful!” said Tulp.
She said they are looking forward to being able to give further updates to the community at the Annual General Meeting on April 25, and they are excited about their new reconstructed website which will be available soon.
