Wonderful night out

Dianne Brown is amazed at how her dream of the little Country Farm House has evolved over the last few years. Holding yet another successful Christmas Ladies Night last weekend was the icing on the cake for her year.
For the last seven years Brown has gradually expanded in numerous areas in the Farm House. Originally thinking to have a few sweets with coffee or tea, Brown has developed a sizable menu to choose from for lunches at the little restaurant part of the business. Right from the beginning she knew that the little dream was heading in the right direction. She now caters Christmas parties, anniversaries, birthdays and the like with a full catering service.
During her regular hours of operation 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, Brown offers soup and sandwiches and desserts, including her  famous flapper pie to all who come to browse the craft shop’s nooks and crannies. Evening reservations are required, and Brown helps those who book design a menu specifically to their liking and needs.
The Ladies Night brought over 75 women together for an evening of relaxing, visiting and shopping in a laid back atmosphere. More importantly it was a great opportunity for Brown to not only say thank you to her regular patrons but thank you to her staff.
“Without my staff, and my family who are such a large part of this operation, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without them. My whole family, kids, their spouses and even grandkids running around make this what it is today and I am grateful and blessed,” said Brown.
The shop has items placed in little nooks and crannies throughout the Farm House, both on the main level and in the basement.
Daughter Norma Brown also has a fully operational salon in the basement, which adds to the atmosphere of the family run business.
Coming up for the Farm House, Brown is holding a Country Christmas with a roast beef dinner and all the fixings. Local musician Jim Burne will be there providing some Christmas cheer in his vocal and instrumental performance. Reservations are required for the event and can be made by calling the Country Farmhouse at 403-734-2593.
