Library hosts first-ever online silent auction
By Strathmore Municipal Library
The Strathmore Municipal Library’s last fundraising event of the year is a virtual online auction. The auction opens on Friday, Nov. 29 at noon and closes on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 11:45 p.m. We have over 35 items donated by generous and talented community members, as well as local businesses. The link for the auction can be found on the library website. Don’t have a computer? Come into the library and we will set you up on the 32 Auctions site.
Library use is increasing in every area, and our current funding levels mean we are struggling to keep up. The reason for this fundraiser is that we had nearly 6,000 people attend 444 programs between January and August of this year, and we expect to welcome over 65,000 people to walk through the doors this year. Libraries work as an equalizer in society, ensuring everyone has access to what they need to learn and succeed, from babies to seniors living in assisted care facilities. We are striving to keep membership free.
You can view some of these auction items on our website or come into the library and we will be putting out some of the items throughout the library. The library will also be hosting a Holiday Market with local vendors on Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free hot chocolate and popcorn will be available while supplies last starting at 10 a.m.
