Therrien,Richard (Rick) Thomas

Richard (Rick) Thomas Therrien, a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on October 2, 1963, in Brandon, Manitoba, and made his home in Strathmore, Alberta. He was a compassionate and caring soul whose kindness touched many lives.

Rick’s life was greatly enriched when he met Diane, while working at Pinebrook Golf and Country Club. They shared a beautiful life together for 24 years. Rick always said that he married his best friend and was so proud of that.

Rick loved his family and friends, always worrying about other people and looking out for everyone. He was always there for anyone who needed him. Rick was passionate about everything he did in life and made sure to spend his time doing things he loved, with the people he loved. He always told his kids to “cherish every moment you have, as time is the only thing you can’t get more of”.

Rick loved to cook and sing, often doing both at the same time. His passion was riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and spending time in the garage fixing them up and making them look brand new. Rick’s last trip was the solo adventure of a lifetime up to the Yukon as far as kilometer marker 100 on the Alaskan Highway.

Rick is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Sara, Jake and Zach as well as his dad, Albert; his brothers Curtis and Don and sister Michelle. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his mom, Elaine.

Rick truly was a legend and will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune to know him. He left the world better than he found it.

To honor Rick’s memory, the family kindly requests donations to the Calgary Motorcycle Toy Run in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Rick on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 1:00-3:00pm at the Strathmore Civic Center, followed by a procession, with a motorcycle escort through town, to the Strathmore Cemetery.
