The Langdon Days 2024 is expected to proceed as planned during the upcoming weekend of July 19-21 as part of a collaboration between the Langdon Community Association (LCA) and the Langdon Softball Association (LSA).

Visitors from all over the province are expected to attend including from Strathmore and Rocky View County.

“Many people have their friends and family stay for the weekend,” says Nicole Porquet-Seitz, LCA chair.

The revenue generated from the event will be put towards maintaining recreation facilities in Langdon such as tennis, basketball courts and the outdoor rink, explains Langdon Porquet-Seitz.

“It’s our major fundraiser for the year,” she says. “It’s a festival that we’ve had around for many, many years that we get thousands of people come out from the community, get together and enjoy time together.”

The main day will be Saturday, July 20 with a free pancake breakfast in the morning, followed by a parade.  The fire hall will hold a free barbeque lunch and showcase their tools and equipment. Then in the afternoon the Children’s Festival will take place with free food, games, horse wagon rides and a new petting zoo. LSA will host a cabaret in the evening.

Rounds of Bingo will be held on Friday for ages 12 and over and a car show on Sunday.

The LSA will be holding a baseball tournament all weekend.

Visitors can expect to find vendors including some local businesses that specialize in jewelry, soaps and food products.

This year the children’s festival has been expanded by using up the whole park.

“We’re hoping to see more families and try to bring in events that are for kids of all ages,” says Porquet-Seitz. She points out that there will be bouncy kids for kids of different ages.

Street parking will be available around the park as the main parking lot will be closed.

Further details and schedules can be found online (goodlucktown.ca/langdon-days).

“People can look there and plan their day,” says Porquet-Seitz.
