MILLMAN, Earl

MILLMAN,Earl

With great sadness we announce the passing of Earl Millman of Strathmore, Alberta, on May 26, 2024, at the age of 96. Devoted husband of 75 years to Goldy (nee Anderson), Mom and Dad were inseparable. He was the loving father of Gay Harms (Fred), Barry Millman (Betty), Dennis Millman (Carrie), and Sharon Millman. Earl will also be missed by nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Earl was born in Red Deer, Alberta, to Edgar and Viola (nee Willis) Millman. At the age of 18 he joined the merchant marines and served in South America. He married his wife, Goldy, in 1948 and they moved from Vancouver to reside in Calgary. Dad was a man of many talents: he could build and fix anything, to the delight of many family members, friends, and neighbours. He had many varied careers from driving bus in Forest Lawn, Calgary, when it was still a dirt road to driving long distance trucks across Canada and the US; trucks carrying dynamite to Alaska, also on dirt roads. After working as a general contractor, he and Mom retired to Kelowna and spent the winters in Arizona. Finally coming back home to family in Strathmore, they resided in Sagewood where Mom still is.

Earl was the oldest son of nine children. He is survived by brothers Ken and Ron, and sister Ruth. He is predeceased by sisters Florence, Pearl, Margaret and Lois; brother Carl; son Barry; and son-in-law Fred.

God saw Dad was tired and welcomed him into his loving arms on Sunday, May 26. God bless you til we meet again.

A graveside funeral took place on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Strathmore Cemetery, at 2:00 p.m. Coffee followed at the home of his daughter, Gay.

A special Thank You to the great staff at Sagewood, Doctor Senzani, and Pastor Dan Hendrickson. We really appreciate the wonderful care of our parents.
