Andy was born in Ulm Germany to Eva (Bauer) and Wilfried Heink.  In 1959 they immigrated to Canada, arriving in Winnipeg MB.  Soon afterwards his sister Patricia was born to the family, and the family later moved to Calgary AB.  Andy spent most of his life living and working around Calgary area. He apprenticed as a welder for a couple years, then worked for the family business, North Hill Concrete Co. Ltd., and became the crane operator building hi-rises.  In the 80s he started building crates for Tippet Richardson, and soon after became a long-haul driver. In 2004 Andy, along with his partner Char, purchased their own truck and became owner operators and together they travelled all North America coast to coast, including Alaska – living the “High-Life”.  He worked for Tippet Richardson until 2008, then worked for Quality Move Management until he retired in 2022. He biggest achievement over the years was being awarded Master Mover in 2016. During his down time, Andy loved to tinker in his “massive dream shop” where he did woodworking and welding projects.  He built almost all the furniture in his home, and also made many cherished treasures for his close friends. Andy was also well known for his “mastery” with the smoker and the BBQ, and the many dinners he would host for friends. Everyone always looked forward to the invites for an out of this world BBQ feast.  His dream was to retire in Mexico where he had been wintering for the past 5 years and making new friendships. It was his paradise and he enjoyed life to the max while he was there.  In January, he was diagnosed with cancer and began treatments in Mexico.  In May he had a spine surgery which caused many complications.  Char went to Mexico and assisted him in returning to Canada with hopes of a better recovery, but his dreams were shattered.  Due to many complications, Andy passed away in the loving arms of his long-time companion on the morning of July 27th.  Andy was predeceased by his father Wilfried Heink in 2016.  Left to cherish his memories are his beloved mother Eva Heink, sister Patricia Heink, sister-in-law Shelley Fizor, nephew Adrian Heink (and wife Ella, and her 2 children), niece Rhea Heink, Andy’s only daughter Breanne (and husband Josh) McNulty, many extended relatives in Germany, and of course, his long-time loving companion and best friend Charlotte.  Andy also had many friendships far and wide, through work, vacations, and lifestyle.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  A Celebration of Life is being held on August 19th at Cairnhill Community Hall, Strathmore AB.
