MILBAK, Kevin

MILBAK,Kevin

It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin Milbak announces that on May 26, 2023, Kevin passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 67 years.

Prior to moving to Strathmore in 2006, Kevin was raised and lived in Standard where he enjoyed work on the family farm and a successful career in the Oil & Gas industry. Hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling were favorite hobbies of Kevin’s through the years, but his passion was certainly his cherished Harley Davidson which he was able to take full advantage of after his retirement.

Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his wife Judy of 42 years; his daughter Brandy (Adam) Van Soest of Edmonton; and his son Kirk of San Antonio, Texas. Kevin is also survived by siblings Pam (Chris) Levy and Brian. He was predeceased by his mother Phyllis and father Bert. In addition, Kevin leaves behind extended family, nieces and nephews and numerous friends whom he all cherished.

Kevin began his battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis induced Lung Disease in 2015, and was fortunate enough to receive a double lung transplant April 29, 2022. He was inspirational in his work ethic during post-transplant physio to regain strength and he thrived last summer with his new set of lungs. Unfortunately, his battle resumed earlier this year with post-transplant complications and he succumbed after a courageous fight.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Peter Lougheed Hospital ICU as well as the Pulmonary and Transplant Teams for all their efforts.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Lord of All Lutheran Church, Strathmore at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made directly to Alberta Lung (https://ablung.ca/about) and to consider registering to become an organ donor.
