The Strathmore Magic will play host to the 2012 Senior “B” Woman Fast Pitch Provincial Championship July 20-22 at the Strathmore Ag Grounds Ball Diamonds.

The Magic will open the tournament on Friday when they battle the Red Deer Panthers at 1 p.m., before tangling with the Edmonton Warrior Pride at 7 p.m.

Strathmore will then play the Calgary Hawks on Saturday morning at 9 a.m., before facing the Canadian Xtreme at 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, Strathmore native Katie Coulter and the Calgary Red Sox open the tournament on Friday morning at 11 a.m. against the Calgary Hawks, before playing again at 3 p.m. against the Calgary Hurricanes.

The defending champion Red Sox will then face the Canadian Xtreme and the Red Deer Panthers on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.

“I’m from Strathmore. I used to play for the Magic and when I moved up to seniors they stayed junior – this is their first year in senior so I went to the city and found a new team and was really happy with them so I stayed,” said Coulter. “It’s going to be a beautiful weekend out and what better way to spend it then sit in the sunshine and have a cold drink and watch some ball. I think it’s going to be a really close tournament this year, all the teams have kind of upped themselves a little bit.

“It will be really entertaining ball to watch this weekend.”
