Grad’s almost here

With only a month to go until grad, parents and students are busy figuring out how to celebrate the momentous occasion. One option for Strathmore High School (SHS) families is to attend the grad banquet.
“It’s a parent organized event, aside from the celebrations at the high school. This is just another choice for the parents, and for the kids,” said Deb Betterton, head of the banquet committee.
The banquet will see graduates, and their families, gather to enjoy dinner before heading back to the high school to participate in the grand march, followed by the dance.
“There’s always hope that you’ll have most of the grads attend. I think we’re probably going to hit about 500 people, and probably I’m going to say maybe 80 grads. That’s not that many, especially when there is 214 grads,” said Betterton.
“We are asking parents too to send in pictures, a couple pictures of their kids from when they were small to now because we are trying to put together a picture presentation to run through the evening.”
Betterton said the parent committee relies on the monetary donations from the community in order to keep the prices as low as possible.
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. on May 26, Grand March 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. said Betterton.
Tickets are on sale until May 6, and are $35 each. For more information or to purchase tickets either email strathmoregrad2012@hotmail.com or call 403-934-0984.
