Walsh, Michael (Mike) Walter
Walsh,Michael (Mike) Walter
June 20, 1964 – January 10th, 2022
It is with great shock and sadness that the family of Michael (Mike) Walsh announces his sudden passing on January 10th, 2022. Mike was a caring & loving son, a brother, a father, a grandfather and a most of all a great and loyal friend.
Mike was born in Port Credit, Ontario on June 20th 1964. He was the youngest of 4 children born to Joan and Clare Walsh.
Shortly after Mike arrived the family packed up the 4 kids in their 1956 Pontiac complete with belongings secured on top and left the shores of Lake Ontario for the mountains of BC . When Mike was a teenager his family relocated to Calgary when and this is where he met his first love, Lynette Olive.
Mike and Lynette went on to marry and have three children. Jennifer first, then Kristin and finally son, Devon. Mike and Lynette eventually left BC and returned to Alberta. They settled in Strathmore and Strathmore is where Mike was still living at the time of his passing.
Mike was a truck driver through and through. There was no truck, highway or load he wouldn’t tackle. He could spread gravel like a pro and people often requested Mike because of this. He loved driving and continued to drive until he started to suffer some health issues. He always took his dog Jules with him when on the road and Jules was the reason Mike got up everyday and vice versa. I think Jules would claw through a brick wall if she thought Mike was on the other side. He worried more about that little dog than he did about himself. A few summers ago he even bought her a lifejacket so she could go kayaking with him but had to make sure she was safe.
Mike had many struggles in his life but no matter what he was facing it never stopped him from being the first person to jump up and offer to help anyone that needed it. He enjoyed people and learning everything he could about people. Anyone that knows Mike knows he loved to talk…but they also know he loved to listen and cared about what you had to say.
So many people that loved Mike have reached out to our family to share a funny story or to let us know the kindness they experienced from Mike and for this we are grateful. Mike lived a simple life. He asked for nothing and expected nothing from anyone. He was never envious or jealous of what others had. He was content with he had and would take his last dollar to help you if you needed it.
Mike will be missed by so many and for that he would be so grateful. Friends meant a lot to him.
Mike is pre-deceased by his father Clare and survived by his mother Joan, sisters Cindy and Julie and his 3 children, Jennifer, Kristin and Devon and of course his little dog Jules.
We would like to send a special thank-you to the people that have helped us through this terrible time and stepped up to do what they could.
A special thank-you to Jason and Amanda Maunsell for all their help and support.
Mike loved dogs. If you wish to honor Mike in some way we would ask that you make a small donation to your local SPCA in Mikes name.
