KATHOL, Eugene Louis
KATHOL,Eugene Louis
December 20, 1943 – December 16, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene Louis Kathol who passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer.
Eugene was the third of six children born to Bill and Carola Kathol. He is survived by his wife Janis (Busch) of 55 years; 4 children, Darryl Kathol (Karen), Wayne (Marnie) Kathol, Greg (Jenise) Kathol, and Colleen (Patrick) Corbiell. Eugene also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Avery Kathol (Jessica), Devon Kathol (Paige), Alex Kathol (Matt), Travis Kathol (Celine), Cale Kathol, Peyton Kathol (Breanne), Keara Kathol (Colin), Emma Kathol, Mason Corbiell and Vaughn Corbiell; great-grandchild, Lyric Kathol; his brothers Ron (Launette) Kathol, Dennis (Gloria) Kathol, Larry (Patsy) Kathol; and sisters Elaine Brayton and Rosalie (Rick) Guitton.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Carola Kathol and his sister-in-law Joan Kathol.
Eugene was raised in Rockyford and he and Janis raised their children there on his beloved farm (Katholville/Triple K Farms) 2 miles outside of Rockyford. He never fully retired from the farming life and continued to be involved in his final years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and supported and volunteered in the community in many different capacities over the years. He was also a member of St. Rita’s Parish for many years.
He enjoyed being on the golf course, no one was sure if he liked golfing or finding “lost” golf balls more. He also enjoyed going to the casino with Janis and of course having coffee with the committee at Berts. He also enjoyed watching the NHL, CFL, curling and golf.
He was very proud of each of his children, grandchildren and great granddaughter and was sure to be at every dance recital, hockey, ringette, basketball, and soccer game or 4-H event he was able to make it to.
Eugene and Janis wintered in Arizona for many years. They enjoyed traveling, camping and visiting family and friends whenever possible.
Eugene had a sense of humour and smile that made everyone around him feel safe and drawn to him the minute you met him. He was a very gentle soul.
