KOWULA, CHRISTINE MAY – Following a battle with cancer, and surrounded by family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christine May Kowula (nee Marks) at age 51 on Saturday November 7, 2020. Beloved wife of James Kowula and proud and loving mother of Harley and Will; treasured daughter of Patricia and Howard (2016) Marks of Sarnia, Ontario; daughter-in-law of Bill Kowula of Calgary and Myrna Matthews of Kelowna, BC.; much loved sister of John Marks (Kelly) of Sarnia, Lizabeth Fraser (Hal) and Joanne McLean (Pat) of London, Ontario; cherished aunt of Jake, Jesse, Jordan (Marks) and Eric and Holly (Fraser).
Christine grew up in Sarnia, graduated from the University of Western Ontario and continued studies at Althouse College where she earned her teaching certificate. After teaching for a few years in Sarnia, she decided to make a move to Calgary in 1998 where she continued her teaching career at Central Bow Valley School and later at Wheatland Crossing where she established many good friendships. Christine enjoyed people, had a contagious laugh, and loved to watch her kids play ringette and hockey. Chris’ family would like to thank the many individuals within the hockey, ringette and Langdon, AB communities for their outpouring of support during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19, a private family gathering will take place to celebrate Christine’s life. Memories and condolences may be shared online to www.mountainviewmemorial.ca. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations in Christine’s memory to KIDSPORT CANADA, Calgary and Area Chapter, at https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/DonationPage.aspx?eventid=249728
