James Bos was surprised and happy to hear he had picked the name of Strathmore’s History book, winning himself tickets to the centennial fall gala.
He was at the town offices paying a bill when he decided to fill out a ballot for the naming contest.
“I had went in to pay my water bill and I had written 100 years of memories, 100 years of great memories and 100 more to come, and I can’t remember the third one,” said Bos.
“I was like what’s this competition for and they said it’s for the centennial book. I said oh really and they said yeah just put your name in and what the name you think the book should be.”
On Oct. 5 Michael Ell and Elisa Maxwell, members of the Naming Committee within the Centennial Committee, told council that Bos had picked the winning name, 100 Years of Memories for the new book.
“There was many, many names that were presented in that contest,” said Ell at the council meeting.
“It was very difficult for us to come up with the one that we needed to choose because there were so many good names that we could have used for that book.”
The book is scheduled to come out early in 2012, and Bos will be recognized in the book for having picked the successful name.
