Envoldsen, Lyle Eugene
October 18, 1925 – July 23, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lyle Envoldsen on July 23, 2020 at the age of 94 years. Lyle passed away peacefully at Sagewood Care Centre in Strathmore. Lyle was a lifelong farmer and had a love of planes and woodworking. Lyle was known to be able to fix almost anything and built many houses over the years. Lyle was born on October 18, 1925 to Violet and Tom Envoldsen of Standard. He married Shirley Manson on October 29, 1949 and spent 69 wonderful years together. Lyle and Shirley lived in Calgary for 6 years before moving to the family farm in Standard in 1957 after building a new house for his family.
Lyle is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Shirley; sister Lorraine; grandson Alan; and brother-in-law Bill. He is survived by his children, Karen (Robin) Hirsch, Debbie (Brett) Gates, Don (Sally), and Darryl. Lyle also leaves behind his grandchildren, Dennis, Colin (Chrystal), Lisa, Adam, Mark, & Jena; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, and Connor; sister-in-law, Pat; and nephew, Scott. Due to the ongoing global pandemic and current restrictions, the family will be holding a small private service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada (20 Eglinton Ave. W, 16th Floor, Toronto, ON, M4R 1K8 or online) in memory of Lyle’s dedication as the primary caregiver to his wife, Shirley, who suffered with dementia for many years. We wish that we could have the usual community service for Lyle to celebrate his life, but in light of current events, the family appreciates everyone’s love and support from afar.
