The Boob Tour had people laughing until it hurt on Oct. 7, when they were at the Civic Centre. James Uloth is the organizer of the comedy tour, which raises money for all types of cancer.
“It’s a comedy orientated and it’s not 90 minutes of boob jokes or anything like that, it’s pretty much regular standup,” said Uloth.
“When I was 16 my best friend’s mom died. It’s (breast cancer) such a long disease, it took her about three years before she finally passed away.”
He said he always wanted to do something to help raise funds for cancer while incorporating his comedy. He would sell stickers after his shows, which he said didn’t amount to much at the end of the year. Uloth decided to take that money and build a tour because he knew he could raise more money and make a difference that way.
In the first year of the tour he was able to raise over $100,000 for cancer research and has just entered into the second year now.
“The Strathmore event was really great, the ladies there really went the extra mile and decorated so seamlessly. It was two different relay teams who participated in it, and I was just so happy to be working with them and just so happy to see the results they produced,” said Uloth.
“We had such a great time in Strathmore and they’re already asking for next year’s date and I think we’re going to move it a bit further into November.”
The two Relay for Life teams who brought the event to Strathmore were Magical Moms and Rednecks 4 a Cure. With the help of the featured comedians Daryl Makk, Lars Callieou, Allison Lane and Tracey MacDonald, the tour has seen much success.  They are planning on making the tour an annual event.
“All of our events we look at as annual, unfortunately cancer doesn’t quit and neither do we, so every year the show makes its changes and it’s a brand new show pretty much every year,” said Uloth.
“We come to town and grow it and hopefully get a whole bunch of new people out.”
Tickets are usually available about two months before a show, and the website www.theboobtour.com will have all the info for next year. Uloth said it is important to make sure the word ‘the’ is included in the website domain name or people may find a whole different kind of boob tour they weren’t looking for.
