Braves bounce back

The Wheatland Braves extended their winning streak to four games after a pair of road wins in Airdrie and Lacombe Feb. 1-2.
The local double-A peewee team defeated the Airdrie Lightning 7-4 to open the weekend, before taking out the Central Alberta Selects 6-4 the following day.
After a 1-2-2 stretch, including a 10-5 loss to the top-ranked Bow Valley Timberwolves, the Braves reeled off four wins in a row to improve to 21-5-2 on the season.
Led by the league’s leading scorer, Kyle McDonough, who has 35 goals and 34 assists for 69 point in 27 games, the Braves also receive high power offence from the duo of Tate Hanson and Trip Jensen.
The next game for the Braves is Feb. 22 (4:45 p.m.) when they host the Medicine Hat Orange.

Winning Warriors
The Wheatland Warriors improved to 18-6-4 on the season after an 8-5 road win over the Foothills Bisons on Feb. 1.
Luc Trevors, Garrin Gosling and Kolten Kuryk combined for 10 points in the win, which followed a 6-4 road win the previous day in Lethbridge.
The local double-A bantam team has reeled off three straight wins and leads the South Conference.
The Warriors will now play a home-and-home series with the Bow Valley Timberwolves on Feb. 8 in Cochrane, before returning home to the Strathmore Family Centre Feb. 9 (1:30 p.m.) for the return match.

Chiefs split
After suffering a 4-1 road loss to the Medicine Hat Hounds on Jan. 31, the Wheatland Chiefs got back to their winning ways with a 7-1 hammering of the Central Alberta Selects on Feb. 2.
Nolan Bailey scored a goal and added a pair of assists to lead the way for the local double-A midget team. Nathon Feick, Adam Kirkpatrick, Austin Kuryk and Zach Stangness each recorded two points in the win.
The Chiefs, who improved to 15-8-3 on the season, will now host the West Central Tigers on Feb. 9 (4:15 p.m.) at the Strathmore Family Centre.
