Information from Strathmore Town Council Regular Meeting

A public hearing for Bylaw 19-16, the land use change application by Wheatland Funeral Home to accommodate a crematorium, was held again as additional information was provided to council (requested Nov. 6). The bylaw passed with a motion to make amendments to community services bylaws to include source testing.

• Paint the Town Red decorating contest for downtown businesses

Council accepted a report on potential upgrades for the arena/family centre. The report was originally commissioned in 2018 to explore whether and how the town could make use of a federal infrastructure grant to upgrade community recreation facilities.

Council approved the funding model for the Lakewood Meadows pedestrian bridge.
* * *
Council officially supported the Ministry of Municipal Affairs suggestion to provide a Shallow Gas Tax Relief Initiative to qualifying businesses in the amount of 35 per cent of taxes owing. Council approved issuing a property tax relief notice to Ember Resources for $5,948.80.
