Warriors win heavyweight bout

The top two bantam teams in the SCAHL – the Wheatland Warriors and the Olds Grizzlys – battled it out at the Strathmore Family Centre on Nov. 30. The Warriors prevailed with a 2-1 win.

The top two bantam teams in the South Central Alberta Hockey League went toe to toe at the Strathmore Family Centre on Nov. 30.
The Wheatland Warriors – the top team in the South Conference – handed the Olds Grizzlys their first loss of the season, with a low-scoring 2-1 contest.
After exchanging second period goals, the Warriors scored with 4:40 left in the game en route to the win, dropping the North Conference’s top team to 12-1-2 on the season. The Warriors then travelled to Taber the following day, where they smashed the Golden Suns 6-1.
The Warriors, who improved to 12-3-2 on the season, will now host the Foothills Bisons on Dec. 6 (7:30 p.m.) in Hussar, before hosting the Medicine Hat Hounds on Dec. 8 (1:30 p.m.) at the Strathmore Family Centre.

Braves win
The Wheatland Braves improved to 12-2-0 on the season after a 3-0 shutout over the Foothills Bisons on Dec. 1 at the Strathmore Family Centre.
The local double-A peewee team will now take the weekend off from league action as they prepare to travel to Medicine Hat on Dec. 13.
The Braves will return home on Dec. 14 (4:45 p.m.) when they host the Chestermere Lakers at the Strathmore Family Centre.

Chiefs respond
After suffering their worst defeat of the season – a 7-1 drubbing at the hands of the NWCAA Bruins on Nov. 27 – the Wheatland Chiefs got back to the win column with a pair of solid victories.
The local double-A midget team took a 4-0 road win over the Taber Golden Suns on Nov. 30, before defeating the Medicine Hat Hounds 3-2 the following day at the Strathmore Family Centre.
The Chiefs, who improved to 11-2-2 on the season, will play their lone weekend game on Dec. 7 (4:45 p.m.) at the Strathmore Family Centre.
