THOMAS, George Louis

George Thomas passed away at the Strathmore General Hospital on April 23, 2019 at the age of 73 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Tracie Thomas of Niagara Falls, ON and Jenny Davis (Rod) of Sherwood Park, AB; his two grandchildren Emily Hayden and Josh Davis; and his stepdaughter Rebecca Thomas. George is also survived by his siblings: Grace Dick, Gordon Hill (Doris), Bob Murray, Noel Legault, and Noella Baker. He was predeceased by his brother Gary Hill and his beloved dogs Biscuit and Dudley. George was born in Sault Ste. Marie, ON and lived in various parts of Ontario, working as a truck driver. Later he moved west, living first in Edmonton and then settling in the Rockyford/Strathmore area. He was employed by Wheatland County for twenty years and was a unforgettable character, known for his eccentric and unique personality. George will be remembered for his love of music, singing, playing the guitar and fiddle, and the many jam sessions he so enjoyed being a part of. He was an avid collector of classic cars. George loved experiencing the natural beauty of the Alberta countryside, enjoying many museums and attractions along the way. He visited numerous truck-stops and diners in his travels, often consuming large quantities of bacon and eggs. George was proud of his Native heritage. He enjoyed reading the Bible as well as debating and exploring different religions. As per George’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
