Last year, Jared Petruska won the Bronze Boot at the Western Canadian Amateur Nationals. The Bronze Boot is the highest award that can be won by an amateur Canadian motocross racer. However, following a broken collarbone and a hurt shoulder, Petruska was forced to take a year off to heal.
Petruska returned to the sport, healthy and motivated, when he attended the Southern Alberta race that was held in Calgary in the second week of May.
“It was hard getting back into the aggression of racing” said Petruska.
He was fairly happy with his results in the Southern Alberta race, considering it was his first time back from his injuries.
“I had bad starts all weekend, but I felt I rode pretty good considering my time off” said Petruska.
Many Pro Racers attended this race to prepare for the upcoming Canadian Motocross Racing Association National Races being held in Kamloops, British Columbia in early June. Petruska will be attending this race and competing against some of the best riders in Canada.
When asked what his goals were for the season, Petruska said “I want to make it into the top ten of the pro race.”
Petruska has been racing for quite some time.
“I’ve been doing it all my life” he said.
His hopes and plans for the future are to make motocross his career. Despite setbacks like injuries and extended time off, Petruska has many goals set for himself in the near future.
This Strathmore native plans to make his dreams become a reality.
