Warriors dominate weekend

The Wheatland Warriors improved to 6-2-1 on the season after a pair of shutout victories in a home-and-home with the Taber Golden Suns.
The local double-A bantam team defeated the Suns 6-0 on Oct. 27 at the Strathmore Family Centre, before travelling to Taber the following day – hammering the Suns 11-0.
Philip Raycroft scored twice while Tate Yule added a goal and two assists to open the weekend on home ice. Joshua Alberda and Caeden Lomenda each added a goal and an assist, while Bradon Forget also tallied for the Warriors, who are currently in first place in the south division. Matthew Dovichak made nine saves to earn the shutout.
The Warriors travelled to Taber the following day, where Cole Grant and Trey Kam each scored twice and added one assist en route to the massive win. Brandon McGillivray scored once and added three assists, while Lomenda scored twice. Dustin Holm added a goal and an assist, while Yule, Alberda and Raycroft also scored for the Warriors. Ryder Many Grey Horses added four assists and Parker Forrest made 10 saves to earn the shutout.
The Warriors will now host the Foothills Bisons on Nov. 2 (7:30 p.m.) at the Hussar Arena, before heading to Okotoks the following day (5:15 p.m.) for a match with the Oilers.

Chiefs split
The Wheatland Chiefs split a pair of weekend games, losing 4-1 on home ice to the CNHA Canucks on Oct. 26, before hammering the Foothills Bisons 8-0 the following day on the road.
Chase Clayton scored the lone goal for the local double-A midget team in the loss to the Canucks.
However, the next day, the Chiefs offence was in full force, en route to the massive win.
Ben Kruse scored four goals and added three assists, while Walker Van Eaton added a goal and an assist in the win.
Braden Tanner, Jaycob Masciangelo and Steve Wilks also scored for the Chiefs, who improved to 4-5-1 on the season. Max Schafer added two assists, while Drew Dovichak made 16 saves to earn the shutout.
The Chiefs will now host the Red Deer Elks on Nov. 3 (4:45 p.m.) at the Strathmore Family Centre and the Taber Golden Suns the following day (2:30 p.m.) in Hussar.

Tough weekend
The Wheatland Braves six-game winning streak was snapped with a 4-4 tie on the road in Medicine Hat on Oct. 27.
Colton Gabe, Tate Hanson, Trip Jensen and Conner Radke scored for the local double-A peewee team, while Kyle McDonough and Luc Trevors each added a pair of assists in the draw.
Unfortunately, the Braves bid for points in eight straight games didn’t come to fruition, as the Braves were hammered 9-5 at home on Oct. 28 versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes White.
Brock Keer and Radke each had a goal and an assist in the loss, while McDonough, Trevors and Pheonix Flett each added a goal for the Braves.
The Braves, who dropped to 6-2-1 on the season, will now have a bye week before traveling to Medicine Hat for a rematch on Nov. 9 (7 p.m.).
