Another great Stampede passes by

By Steven Greene Times Contributor

Well folks, that’s another stampede in the books. There’s honestly nothing better than people getting together for a weekend they will never forget. My family has been to almost every Stampede for the past 11 years – with the exception of maybe one 0r two shows – and we always have a great time whenever we go out. I mean, you can’t go wrong with live entertainment, the vibrations of the crowd at the rodeo and seeing people having the time of their lives. It simply can’t be beat. But there are a few minor changes that I personally feel would really amp up the experience and make it a whole lot better.
In my overall experience with the Stampede, I’ve never really had much trouble. That being said, what would really be a huge benefit is to have more wheelchair accessible restroom facilities available to those who require assistance in the washroom. Being disabled myself, I know from experience that it’s not easy find a facility that would work with my needs. It would make a big difference if that option were more noticeable because every person is different and has their own ways of doing what they need done, and they shouldn’t have any issues finding an area in which they may require assistance.
I may not know much about running a business and I understand that it’s not easy to run a business, especially in today’s economy. But at the same time, I personally feel that some of the pricing in some areas could use some minor adjustments. Even though the prices are mostly fair compared to other rodeos, some people simply can’t afford it. Again, just my opinion.
Take the food trucks for example. I will start off by saying that even though the items I tried were absolutely delicious, I have to admit as much as I understand that the economy really isn’t where many of us would like it to be, I also felt that some prices were a little steep, but that’s just my opinion. But what I do know is that even though the pricing was fair for the most part, at the same time I can still see why some people may have some issues. I also feel that a little can definitely go a long way.
But overall, Stampede weekend is always a great way to make great memories with friends and family, and finish off an awesome summer. I hope you enjoyed this column, and if anyone has an idea for a topic, please send them to me at stampsfan4ever@gmail.com.
