Rosebud’s annual outdoor music festival, 15 Minutes of Fame, returns for its 12th year, Sunday, Sept. 3.
Set in the green space between the Opera House and Thorny Rose Cafe, the event runs from noon to dusk, featuring performers of all genres of music.
“We’re so excited to have some familiar faces at the festival this year, as well as some new acts,” said Lauren Hamm, festival organizer. “Honey and Pearls is a sweet duo out of Calgary. They combine the laid-back energy of a ukulele with their smooth harmonies, in a way that’s fresh and easy to listen to.
“Closing the show this year we have The Frontiers, an energetic folk-rock band from Calgary. These boys bring a cool authenticity with them wherever they play, with significant instrumental talent and an honesty in their lyrics.”
Alixandra Cowman, a member of The Dearhearts band, who’s singing and acting in Rosebud Theatre’s Spitfire Grill, will also perform at 15 Minutes of Fame.
“Bringing a band that includes some of the finest musicians you’ll ever know, she’s sure to break your heart with her sweet melodies and relatable lyrics,” Hamm said.
KP Smith, an “incredible songwriter,” is also returning.
“We can’t wait to hear what new music she has in store for us,” Hamm said.
Steel and Timber, a folk-roots band “who got the crowd fired up last year,” is returning for their second year.
“They bring an upbeat energy that fits our festival so well,” Hamm said.
Bill’s Big Band, led by Rosebud’s music director Bill Hamm, and formed solely for 15 Minutes of Fame, will also perform.
“With brass and drums and cool vintage harmonies, these guys are always a crowd pleaser,” Hamm said.
Zach Running Coyote is returning with the new group Peyote Zach and the Firecrackers. Caitlyn O’Connor, Kait Sloboda and The Wheatland Band will also perform.
In Vendor’s Lane, Shilo Davis Photography will sell photographic greeting cards, alongside vendors offering wares ranging from handcrafted jewelry to fresh garden produce.
Artist’s Alley, in the Opera House, will showcase visual art from Albertans. A face painter will also be onsite.
And for the hungry, Wild Horse Jack’s Bistro will be serving barbecue food, food-truck style, and the Thorny Rose Cafe, next to the festival space, will also serve food and drinks all day. Sarah’s Ice Cream Cart, across from the Opera House, will also be open.
15 Minutes of Fame advance tickets are $20 for an individual and $45 for a family. At the door, individual tickets are $25 and family tickets are $50. For advance tickets or more information, see rosebudmusicfestival.com. 15 Minutes of Fame is a cash-only event.
