Committee search
John Whieldon of Strathmore appeared before council on August 4, to discuss forming a lake committee. Whieldon, who grew up in Strathmore, said the lake at Kinsmen Park is in a state of disrepair and would like to see it cleaned up. He also said there is a large amount of aggregate or silt in the lake. He proposed a small committee made up of himself, a council member and a Kinsmen member. The committee would go through all ideas residents have to offer and determine what the best form of action would be. He is sure residents will be willing to pitch in to make the lake beautiful again rather than pay someone to come in and do it.
“I really, really like the idea,” said councillor Bob Sobol, who would be happy to volunteer his time. The rest of council agreed with Sobol and the proposal by Whieldon was taken in as information while council decides who would sit on the committee.
