EnCana helps village with arena costs

EnCana presented a cheque for $20,000 in a show of support to the recently renovated Standard Arena July 15. Last summer the Agricultural Society began repairs on the arena, which cost approximately $200,000. The money for the arena was used for renovations due to water damage in a building attached to the arena. The Agricultural Society had to relocate the player boxes to the other side of the building and had to replace arena boards.
“Part of EnCana’s overall business strategy is a commitment to contribute to the strength and sustainability of the communities in which we feel we are privileged to operate in, such as Standard,” said Luigi Vescarelli, community relations advisor for EnCana.
The refurbished arena has been well used and appreciated since it reopened in October. Like any town, village or hamlet, an arena is a place for bigger social gatherings and community events, and being in good condition is a priority.
“EnCana has been nice and donated $20,000 for the project that we did, everything counts,” said Perry Ellis from Standard.
EnCana tries to financially help any community they are in, and they are looking at possibly helping with the new Community Hall project.
