Passed Away December 9, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta  

Surrounded by family, Melvin Arthur Sandum passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy of love. His greatest joy in life was family, who now mourn his loss including wife of 52 years Karen Sandum; Son Travis (Tara) Sandum; daughter Kimberley Stawnichy; six beautiful granddaughters, Katelyn, Jacquelyn, and Marli Sandum; Trinity, Charleigh, and Jaycee Stawnichy; brother’s Lee (Lori) Sandum; Larry Sandum; Sister Barb (Ken) Filkohazy; Brother in Law Lorne (Orlene) Bishop; Sister in law Jeanne (Willard) Treacy; and many Aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Melvin was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Maxine Sandum; Father and mother-in-law William (Bill) and Kathleen Bishop; Son in law Lawrence Stawnichy. 

Melvin (Boss) took great pride in his family farm and the life he built on it. He was happiest on the farm seeding, harvesting, calving cows and watching the seasons change with the love of his family and friends nearby.  

A Celebration of Life will be held for Melvin on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Hussar Community Hall, private family interment to follow at the Hussar Cemetery.  If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to Hussar and District Agriculture Society.  Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
