It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn on August 12, 2025 in Calgary after a brief illness at the age of 81 years.
Marilyn was born in Star City, Saskatchewan and spent her young years in Melfort and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. After attending Saskatoon Tech Collegiate, she obtained employment at Federated Co-op head office in Saskatoon and later transferred to Strathmore Co-op, where she worked as an accounting technician. Then after the girls were old enough went back to work at Eagle Lake Nurseries for many years.
Marilyn and Wayne were married in October 1968 and in 1973 built their new house on the farm south of Strathmore where Marilyn resided until her passing. Marilyn lived her life for her family, loved her home on the farm and took pride in her garden and yard, enjoyed canning and kept active golfing and playing pickleball. Marilyn was very involved with her family’s activities which included many ringette and hockey games during the winter months. She also enjoyed travelling with memorable trips to Nashville, Costa Rica, California, Alaska and many cruises with friends. Marilyn had been involved with the Cairnhill Community Association, and was a recipient of her 50-year recognition with Beta Sigma Phi Ladies Club.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Wayne of 58 years; two daughters Tara (Derek) and Kelie; grandchildren Addison and Jordyn Innes; Taylor and Ashley Hall, and their father Devon Hall; sister-in-law Bonnie (Ken) Seitz and sister-in-law Vicki (Nigel) Russell along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Katherine Fusick; her sisters Shirley Litman and Paulette Fusick and her mother and father-in-law, Edward and Hazel Risdon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Cairnhill Hall at 2:00 p.m.
