It is with great sadness that Debbie’s family announce her passing at Rockyford, Alberta, at the age of 71 years. She is survived by four siblings and their families, Brenda Kiemele, Miles & Whitney (Cooper & Logan), Kyle & Ashley (Kade, Charlotte, Mya); Kathryn McEwan, Lucas & Chelsea McEwan (Nathan, Capri, Lily & Norah), Kimberley and Bas Surewaard (Nina & Lara); Grant McCormack, Garrett & Melissa McCormack (Jack), Eden McCormack; Douglas McCormack (Julie), Piper, Jayden, Quinn. She was predeceased by her parents, Teresa & William McCormack. Debbie was born in Calgary, Alberta, on September 30, 1953, to Teresa and William McCormack. She was raised in Carseland, Alberta, where she spent many hours outdoors playing with her sisters and neighborhood children, exploring the countryside on horseback. Debbie never shied away from work. As a teen, she worked as a store clerk in Carseland and Banff for a summer. She graduated from high school in Strathmore in 1971, then moved to Calgary where she was employed in a wide variety of positions from autobody supply technician to ballroom dance instructor to name a few. Debbie continued to work in Calgary after moving back to Strathmore and subsequently to Rockyford where she purchased her house. She enjoyed her yard, flowers and garden and liked to BBQ or just enjoy the fire pit. Debbie loved animals, many stray, rescue cats and dogs found a safe home with her. In later years she found employment closer to home. She was employed at Eagle Lake Turf Farm and Walmart until retirement. Debbie had an independent spirit and lived life her way. We will miss her.
