Heuver,Johanna (Anne)
Strathmore, Alberta
With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Johanna (Anne) Heuver on October 8, 2025 at the age of 87.
Born July 1, 1938, in Raalte, the Netherlands, Anne was the third youngest of twelve children. Her father passed away when she was three years old, leaving her mother with the difficult task of raising twelve children through WWII. From her mother, Anne inherited strength and resilience — qualities that shone especially in her later years as she faced many health challenges with courage and grace.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelmus and Maria Nyenkamp, and five of her siblings: Gerard, Jans, Marie, Anton and Herman. She is survived by her brothers Wim and Hein, sisters Bernadette, Mien, Gerda, and Diny, as well as her sisters-in-law Tonnie and Anny.
In 1964, Anne crossed the ocean to begin a new chapter in Canada, when she married the love of her life, Tony Heuver. They shared sixty wonderful years of marriage until Tony’s passing on December 27, 2024. Together they raised four children: Eric Heuver (Sandy), Marcel Heuver (Sue), Anita Heuver, and Patricia Archambault (Peter). She was a proud Oma to ten grandchildren — Nathan, Grace, Claire, Ethan, Emily (Joel), Teresa, Maria (Eric), Rachel, John (Erin), Kaitlyn (Oscar), and the light of her life, her first great-grandchild, Olivia. Each of them brought her great joy.
Together, Anne and Tony built not only a home but a legacy, rooted in faith, family, and growth. Their partnership flourished in every sense — from raising a family to nurturing the land that became Eagle Lake Nurseries, a place that continues to bloom with their shared vision and love of nature.
Anne’s deep faith served as her constant compass. She was a devoted member of her church and an active volunteer with many community organizations, including the Catholic Women’s League and the Strathmore Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Anne loved her home and garden and took great pride in keeping everything tidy, orderly, and beautiful. Above all, Anne was the heart of her family: the steady presence, the memory keeper, and the loving centre that held everyone together. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, who carry forward her values of love, faith, and gratitude for life’s simple joys.
Anne’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Linda, Gina, Tracy, Kyla, and Tracey, her caregivers. Thank you for the care and compassion you provided to Anne every day. You are part of our family forever.
A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (221 4th Ave, Strathmore, AB).
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Anne’s life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Everyone is welcome to stay for lunch and fellowship following the Funeral Mass.
If desired, donations may be made to a local charity of your choice, in honour of Anne’s generous spirit and love for her community.
