Golden Hills announces new Associate Superintendent

Golden Hills School Division has announced Corina Hampson as the new Associate Superintendent of Learning Services beginning in August.
“I am excited to start the new position and support our teachers and support our students, meet their educational goals and continue to offer our diverse programming through the lens of powerful learning,” she said.
Hampson began working with Golden Hills School Division as a teacher, serving at Brentwood Elementary School, and at Westmount Elementary School. Following this, she was occupied with instructional coaching work with the school division.
She explained she had an opportunity to work as the associate principal at Westmount Elementary School, then as principal at Brentwood school, before once again returning to Westmount to serve as principal.
“Then at that point, after a few years, I had the opportunity to be the Director of Learning with Golden Hills, which is my current position, and then come August, I will move to the Associate Superintendent role,” said Hampson.
In all, Hampson explained she has spent the better part of the last 20 years of her career in various roles working with Golden Hills School Division.
She added she has remained with Golden Hills due to their priority towards their students at the forefront of their decision-making processes.
“This role, Jeff Grimsdale used to be Associate Superintendent and he has moved to Superintendent … we did not have an Associate Superintendent of Learning for a few years and so the need for that position grows,” said Hampson. “We have a Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources, but now we are going to increase that with another position of Associate Superintendent of Learning, so that will be around the curriculum.”
In her new position, Hampson will be involved with instruction, assessment, supporting teachers in professional development, and student services – providing students with programming that best meets their needs.
She added her goal is to ensure the school division continues a positive, supportive, and collaborative structure which helps and encourages students to rise to great heights of academic achievement, as well as to meet their respective social and emotional needs.
“We are here to ensure students have the best educational experience that they can possibly have,” she said. “The idea of helping to build future community members who are going to contribute and build the Strathmore community, but even beyond that, they are our future, and to be a part of that is really exciting.”
Officially, Hampson will begin in her new position as of Aug. 15.
