Elias,Carole Rosina

November 30, 1945 – March 21, 2025

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Carole Rosina Elias on March 21, 2025 at the age of 79.

Carole was born in Peace River on November 30, 1945.  She spent her early years in Dixonville and moved first to Cluny then Standard with her parents, Marshall and Evelyn Bye.  It was in Standard that she met and later married John Elias.

Carole was very active in the community from the beginning.  She was one of the founding members of the Standard Lionettes, a 4-H leader, and sat on the boards of the new Standard Municipal Library when it was being built and the Standard Community Hall when it was being built.  Along the way Carole made many friends.  She was very good at connecting with people and was always willing to help others.  Her positive attitude also helped her enjoy the most out of life.

Carole spent a great deal of time playing and following sports and was also very supportive of her children and grandchildren’s sports and activities.  She was always cheering loudly at events and offering emotional support to all the team members and participants.  On the farm Carole worked tirelessly to create a wonderful home for her family.  She was known throughout the community for her excellent cooking and baking and had a large vegetable garden for over 50 years.

One of Carole’s favourite activities was travelling.  Just before learning she had fourth stage breast cancer she was planning a trip to the Antarctic, the only continent she had not visited, and another trip to England with her daughter and granddaughter.  She felt lucky to travel with her family, special friends and even on her own.  Some of the people she met on her travels remained friends until the end.  She still enjoyed seeing photos and hearing about other people’s adventures as well as sharing stories about her own experiences.  Her generosity, laughter, compassion and strength will be missed by all.

Carole was predeceased by her brother Gerald in 1962, father-in-law John in 1985, mother-in-law Rose in 1991, sister Joanne in 1993, mother Evelyn in 2014, father Marshall in 2018 and brother-in-law Jerry in 2020.  She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John, daughter Jolayne, son Scott, granddaughter Rosina and grandson Mateo.

A private celebration of her life for family and close friends will take place at a later date.  In lieu of cards and/or flowers please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Wheatland & Area Hospice Society.  A special thank you to all the people who helped her along her cancer journey.  The staff at the Tom Baker and Arthur Child centres at Foothills hospital as well as the Standard First Responders and staff at the Strathmore Hospital.
