Feb 11, 1937 – Sept 8, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Eric Dirks who departed this world on Sept 8, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born into humble beginnings, Eric was from a family of 17, a devoted Christian, and a man whose life was rooted in faith, hard work, and the great outdoors. He spent his days tending to the garden, and to the land as a farmer, cultivating not only crops but a legacy of resilience, generosity, and love. His hands bore the marks of labor, but his heart was always open—especially to his children, whom he guided with wisdom, humor, and unwavering calm strength.
When he wasn’t working the fields, Eric found peace in the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished the quiet thrill of the woods and the calm of the water. His passion that connected him to the land and to God’s creation was something that he passed on to his kids and grandkids. He taught us how to call and animal, to track a deer, cast a line, and more importantly, how to be patient, present, and grateful.
His faith was the cornerstone of his life. Whether in church pews or under open skies, he lived by the Word and led by example. He was a man of prayer, of principle, and of deep compassion. His legacy is etched in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
We will miss his stories, his laughter, and the steady presence that anchored our family. But we take comfort in knowing he now rests in the arms of the Lord, reunited with is wife, and with loved ones who went before him.
Eric leaves behind his 3 children Kip (Heather) Dirks, Lauryn (Kaden) Matt, Josh and Isaac, Janine (Lonnie) Lassu, Mitchell and Michelle (Jon) Rilling, Jonathan (Melanie) Asher, Jared and Eden. Eric was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Dirks and his grandson Bennett Lawrence Lassu.
A celebration of Eric’s life was held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Strathmore Alliance Church at 10:00 a.m.
