BLOXHAM, Audrey
Bloxham,Audrey
Audrey Bloxham passed away on Monday, October 27th, 2025 in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 84.
Audrey was born in the Netherlands, to Arie and Grace de Jong. She was followed by siblings: Chuck, Lillian, Gary, John, Art, Johan, Robert, Janey, and David. The family immigrated to Canada in 1952, settling in Evansburg.
Audrey and Blair met in 1960, and they were married March 31, 1962. Their children followed, with Toni in 1964, David in 1967 and Scott in 1971. The family moved frequently, spending time in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Sherwood Park and Calgary, with Blair and Audrey finally ending up on a small acreage outside Strathmore.
Initially, Audrey stayed home to raise the kids, but the arrival of Scott proved uniquely challenging, eventually driving her from the home and back into the workforce. She worked several years as a secretary at elementary schools in Sherwood Park. Most of her career, however, was spent in transportation, working for Cardinal Coach Lines, and later as the Director of Transportation for the Rocky View School Division, retiring in 2020. One of the highlights of her career was overseeing much of the transportation associated with the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.
One of Audrey’s interests was working with Story Book Theatre, stage managing many productions. Later, she immersed herself into the world of dog training and agility competitions. It did not go un-noticed by her children that her commitment to the dogs, both financially and in terms of effort, may have outstripped her commitment to them. In her defence, the dogs were better listeners and likely more rewarding. She had many successful competitions with her dogs, especially Sizzle and Impulse. This interest in dog agility led to Audrey and Toni offering dog training and staging agility trials under their business It’s A Dog’s World.
Audrey will be dearly missed by her children Toni (Colin), David (Cathleen), and Scott (Kelly). Grandchildren Tim (Jessica), Jack (Lyza), Alison (Kinnon), Kambal (Erika), and Jeromi, and her great-grandchildren Emerson and Wesley, as well as countless family and friends. She was pre-deceased by Blair, her husband of 55 years, in 2017, her parents Arie (1986) and Grace (2000), as well as siblings Johan (1950), Gary (1978), Lillian (1985) and Janey (2015).
A memorial service in Audrey’s memory will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:30 pm at McInnis and Holloway Chapel of the Bells 2720 Centre St N. Calgary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Audrey’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.
