Townhome development soon to begin in Lakewood

Lakewood Towns is announcing a new townhome project which will be coming to the community of Lakewood in the near future.

Scott Silva, director of sales and marketing for Lakewood of Strathmore, explained the project is to consist of a 51-unit townhome complex.

“What is really great about the way that the builders have put together the townhome packages, you are allowed to go in and customize your entire unit, with certain aspects of course, all digitally online,” said Silva. “What it allows you is this direct interface, immediately without having to make appointments, without having to go in person and finish everything off that way.”

For those who would prefer to meet with builders in person, an office will be established in downtown Strathmore to accommodate that option.

The addition of more townhomes into Strathmore, Silva added, will allow for diversity of home ownership, but will also aim to create more housing options for people wanting to either downsize or potentially buy their first home.

“Speaking optimistically, there are only 12 units available in Phase 1, and based on a projected sale of those 12 units, the construction would be happening or commencing quite shortly after,” said Silva. “With presales launching here in August, and as expected, based on the market and what is happening, a possible sellout or even a significant sale amount, up to 80 per cent … is all the builders are looking for … so that is all it is going to take to get construction going.”

Silva explained the developers are looking to potentially partner with a local charitable campaign to support through the sale of their townhomes, following the success of Lakewood of Strathmore’s donation to Not In My City.

“Not only have they seen what that impact has in the community, but also it is part of giving back … we always want to ensure that people understand, it takes community to build community, and so we always want to ensure that we are constantly giving back to help support those that we can,” he said. “A lot of the other stuff that you’re seeing happen right now in town is rezoning and new applications to take over land and give it a new purpose, whereas this land in Lakewood was always designated for a multi-family site.”
